This operational hub of simulation-based clinical training improves the outcome of care for Veterans across the country.

SimLEARN is a high-technology, immersive program that uses a train-the-trainer model to quickly and efficiently prepare a cadre of qualified instructors who can, in turn, deliver world-class simulation-based clinical training at their respective VA sites using standardized curricula and equipment. As an operational hub for coordination for national VHA clinical simulation activities, this facility is instrumental in meeting the local simulation-based training needs of VA medical centers across the country. The facility provides a high-fidelity, immersive training environment by replicating actual patient treatment areas, including both an outpatient clinic setting and an inpatient/hospital setting. Training is recorded on video for classroom debriefing and review, and multipurpose classrooms have reconfigurable walls to provide a variety of room settings.

Ten classrooms accommodate up to 160 students for the development and delivery of national training curricula: Fundamental Critical Care Support Training, Introduction to Clinical Simulation Instructor Training, Musculoskeletal Clinician Training, Out of Operating Room Airway Management Simulation Instructor Training, Peripherally-Inserted Central Catheter Training, Point of Care Ultrasound Training, Simulation for Clinical Excellence in Nursing Services, SimLEARN Faculty Instruction, and Trauma Nursing Care Training.
