Extending and blending the existing aesthetic, RLF’s robust design provides 100% visibility of patients.

Description

RLF provided full design services for this 58,400-square-foot expansion that adds 40 new private beds to an existing patient unit tower and 68 new emergency department (ED) beds, including a 16-bed observation unit, 16-bed fast-track unit and embedded imaging, lab and pharmacy services. The ED is composed of four 16-bed units with 100% visibility of the patient spaces from the nurses station. This project also included an expansion and renovation of the existing central utility plant (CUP), which improved the performance of the chilled water system such that energy consumption did not increase despite the hospital expansion. The CUP design also included expansion and improvements to the emergency power system.

This multi-phased project required the team to work closely with the AHCA Office of Plans and Construction for project approvals, and RLF provided construction phase services to assist the contractor in preparing for AHCA inspections.
