The new clinic at Mayport combines the individual programs of pharmacy, physical therapy and general medicine into a single facility while successfully maintaining their individual identity and direct access. Internal planning of the facility reflects a floor plan that can readily adapt to meet the demands of a changing healthcare environment. Clinical areas are arranged along the patient spine with adjustable departmental boundaries. For further adaptability, individual departments use a continuous series of interchangeable modular rooms that can be easily reallocated as exam, office or support space. The architecture features a two-story lobby that gives the building identity, organization and a clear entry statement. Natural light streams into the clinic through clerestory windows on the upper levels and a series of light wells that extend light to the ground level. Open public spaces and a warm soothing interior palette of colors and textures instill a life-affirming, healing environment.
