Stetson Hollis Center

LOC: DeLand, FL | GSF: 32,000 | SRVC: A/E/I

Recognized as the hub of student activity, the Hollis Center at Stetson University integrates elements of old and new creating a signature design that conforms to the historical character of the campus while reflecting a contemporary spirit of modern times. The 32,000-sq.-ft. wellness center is home to the university’s large intramural sports program merging academic and research activities with the fitness, nutritional and recreational needs of the student community. Constructed of steel, brick and glass, the building is formed around a central rotunda atrium which serves as a welcome center for students and parents. A distinctive bell tower is highlighted by a 100-year “victory” bell that rings across campus at pep rallies, games and other celebrations. This ringing tradition has reinvigorated the students and faculty by creating meaningful memories surrounding the school’s intramural athletic program. The Hollis Center is one of the most frequented buildings on Stetson’s campus; its presence has contributed significantly to connecting the university with the surrounding DeLand community.
