Stetson DuPont-Ball Library Addition / Alterations

LOC: DeLand, FL | GSF: 12,000 New / 64,000 Ren. | SRVC: A/E/I

The multi-phased addition / alteration project of Stetson University’s DuPont-Ball Library expanded and modernized the existing 50-year-old facility adding a 12,000-sf.-ft. north wing and creating a more functional and inviting environment for students and library staff. A big part of the renovation involved the reorganization of book stacks, work areas and offices, as well as cosmetic upgrades throughout the aging building. New interior finishes, materials and furniture helped give the space a fresh look while providing new and improved areas for reading and studying. Technological systems were updated as well, adding new automated workstations, computers and audio-visual equipment. The new Instruction Media Center, located in the basement level of the new wing, includes a state-of-the-art tiered classroom which benefits from natural lighting and an adjoining courtyard. The design provided for three additional phases to meet the long-term needs of the university.
