Rollins Olin Library
Distinctive in Spanish-Renaissance architecture and detail, the Olin Library at Rollins College appears to be tailor-made for the 125-year old campus. The design addresses all of the principles of a fully functional modern library while achieving the unique Spanish character and residential scale traditional to the campus. Special consideration was given to achieving harmony and scale with the large, four-level facility and ensuring the structure would blend in with the architectural tone of the campus while not overpowering its one and two-story neighbors. Elaborate stonework, copper roofs, textured stucco walls, and light fixtures made of wrought iron and textured glass, further accentuate the Spanish Mission architectural style. The facility provides stack and reading areas for 300,000 volumes, 400 study carrels, individual offices for faculty, classrooms, meeting spaces, a computer conference center, rare book room, and administrative spaces.
