MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando
Located at the urban core of downtown Orlando, the award-winning MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando has a significant presence on the Orlando Health campus. Standing ten stories high, the 220,000s-sq.-ft. cancer treatment facility features a large tower of sweeping bars of brick and glass anchored by a two-story plinth of earth and water. It’s monumental stature complement the architectural language of the existing hospital, while adding new delicate and transparent elements that enliven the existing aesthetic. The facility connects to the existing hospital through a series of landscapes terraces, creating shared use areas to streamline operations. Evidence-based design is incorporated throughout, including a rooftop healing garden, meditative labyrinth, and naturally lit three-story atrium space. The addition creates 60 new private inpatient rooms and contains all ambulatory and ancillary services required for cancer care from diagnosis through all phases of treatment and follow up.
