Harriett Coleman Center for the Arts
The Harriett Coleman Center for the Arts at Lake Highland Preparatory School reflects both the school’s excellence and vision for its students while reinforcing the campus as a “sense of place” within its downtown Orlando location. Fit snugly into a very tight existing campus, the theater blends successfully with the signature architecture traditional to the K-12 campus. The performing arts facility boasts a 774-seat proscenium theater, stage, dressing rooms, costume shop and separate 125-seat black box theater. The angled orientation of the theater enhances its lakeside location affording inspirational views from upper balconies, terrace and Veterans Memorial Plaza. A two-story lobby features warm wood tones, crafted art deco details, terrazzo flooring, and a grand staircase which connects all three levels of the building. The facility serves as a centerpiece for developing the performing arts program at Lake Highland and is used for various functions from school assemblies, graduations, lectures and recitals, to community-based theatrical productions and concerts.
