Orlando Health Downtown Campus Evolution

RLF’s previous and current infrastructure efforts support over one million square feet within the 50-acre Orlando Health campus.
Infrastructure Enabling for Future Growth
As the campus has continually worked to develop and improve its delivery of healthcare to the Central Florida community, RLF has been a partner in master planning future expansion and completing infrastructure design and enabling projects to support this expansion. Covering over one million square feet within the 50-acre campus, this ongoing effort has consisted of a series of multi-phased and complex projects involving relocation, realignment and enhancements to utilities, streetscapes, roadway intersections, lighting, stormwater and irrigation. RLF identified existing underground utilities that created a barrier to facility growth and developed a plan through a series of site infrastructure packages to “enable” campus growth.
As part of these infrastructure upgrades, RLF located and designed a new campus central energy plant and are currently in the process of phasing out the old CEP with no disruptions to hospital functions. The new design by the RLF engineering team has greatly improved the efficiency and reliability of these systems providing energy savings that has unlocked financial resources that can be applied to upgrading aging building systems. The project has also included additions and renovations of the central energy plant to serve the future needs of the downtown campus.
