RLF Adopts New Technology and Streamlines Design Process
Winter Park, Fla. – RLF – a Winter Park-based architecture, engineering and interior design firm – recently adopted Autodesk’s® Revit® Building software. The new addition enables RLF to design and document using 3-D computer models – a change from the 2-D drawings created in AutoCAD®.
“We’re integrating what used to be hundreds of separate files into one Revit file,” said Keith Holloway, project manager. “It simplifies the way we work.”
An interactive system, Revit automatically coordinates designers’ changes to all affected areas, which saves time, reduces redundancies and improves accuracy. In addition, Revit can reference and integrate RLF’s pre-existing AutoCAD program for detail work, which helps ease the transition. “Revit is a quantum leap in our industry. It’s equivalent to the time when we moved our designs from the drawing board to the computer,” said Steve Hingtgen, president of RLF. RLF already has begun work on three projects using Revit. The entire staff will be trained on the program.
